Statement of Panagi Sava Michaelides of Kyrenia: -

It is now about ten years that I am the

agent of Sava Haralambou of Kyrenia. He is my

Kombaros (comrade) in that he was best man at my

wedding.

On 15th November, 1915, I left Kyrenia in

the sailing ship "Evangelistra" belonging to Sava

Haralambo. Our sole cargo was olive refuse (stones).

Michael Sava was the Captain, and the following crew

besides myself: - Anastassi Nicola, Yorghos Boeros,

Stefani Haikides, and Sava Michael, all of Kyrenia.

Six persons in all. My instructions from Sava

Haralambo were to go to Rhodes and there to await a

letter from Pyraeus from Aristodimo N. Hadji of

Pyraeus who would write to us the price of olive

refuse (stones) at pyraeus, so that I should know

where I could get a better price. I produce this

letter (marked A. J. W. III) which I received a few

days after my arrival at Rhodes. As a matter

of fact I found the price of my cargo so good at

Rhodes that I sold it the same day to Yakatsika Bros.

of Rhodes. It took me about one month to unload the

ship. After I finished unloading, I went to Samos

with Pandeli Anastasiades, who now lives in Nicosia.

Our object was to buy oil. At Samos we were

informed that the exportation of oil was prohibited,

so we wired to our ships which we had left at Rhodes

to leave for Cyprus as we had no cargo for them. I

also wrote to Michael Sava and told him that if he

has any spare money to buy some soap. When I was at
