Thurs- April 22nd 1915

To day we came off Guard & as Thursday

is considered a holiday the only parade we had was

marched down to the Hospital for Quinine. This parade is

getting simply rotten as we have it twice a week &

after each dose we always have 24 hours sickness &

vomit it all up again untill it seems to me to do

us more harm than good, besides costing us 3 annas

each time for chocolate to take the taste out of our

mouths & then you lie the rest of the day completely

done up

Friday April 23 1915

To day after doing the usual parades four of us

decided to go to the top of the Great Pagoda Hill.

The first stage we came to in the great staircase

& to the top there are about 12 stages each taken

about 100 steps to reach was a kind of picture

room in this room will be about 200 or 300 paintings

& each painting is the same subject what they

would like to do to the white people
