came across a lot of Womens clothing
up here I expect that was when the German
advanced the women run up here to change
in there Best before they left it was a
sight to see what was left of the rooms
and furniture as this was april 1915
some of our Fellows were billeted in
these Rooms and slept in the Broken
Beds and there were some very good
Furniture which had not been knocked
about so much even clocks in
going order you could look out of
your bedroom window and see our
Front line trenches and the German
line and it was a Fine sight at
night when they were Bombarding to
watch the Shells Burst and the
Shrapnell we were here 4 Days and
then our turn came to go up the line
which we were lining up to get
ready for our march to the Line we
saw our Company First Casualty
come down on a stretcher for Barial
he had stopped a sniper Bullet too
... to have a look over the top
in Daylight curious enough he was
the First name on the company Roll
as his name comenced with ac and
the Quarter Master said to me well
Worry your Lucky as Fritz is going
to Kill us in Alphabetacle order
and you are about the Last to go so
your alright anyway it was the First
