Dear old boy,

  Your 2 letters reached

us together this morn and

I don't know whether to be

most sorry or glad at the

news - any way I am glad

you are out of the fight for a

while also very glad the

wounds are not too serious

but of course awfully sorry

you are called to suffer

after such a glorious fight

but knowing you succeeded

in the attempt will help

you bear the pain. We know
