  A partly coloured printed French studio postcard wishing Bonne Année (Happy New Year) on top right in gold lettering.

  The card shows a French Army soldier in uniform of the WW1 writing a letter against a tree wound around with convolvulus.  He has a kepi on his head, red trousers, blue coat, a leather bayonet holder hangs from his waist and his long rifle with bayonet on is leaning against his left arm.  On his back is a pack containing a blanket, tin cup and billy can for eating from or cooking in.
