Dear Miss Hoy,

                           Thank you kindly for the photocopy

of a most extraordinary document. Such a thing

I have not come across before, You quite often hear

of people dealing with trauma in such a way

but it is unusual to actually see any evidence of

this kind. Your father talks writes clearly and well

about his experiences during the Great War. Even

now, as I write this letter, several hours later,

I am able to recall certain recollections of  your  Father's

experience– "Death is always lurking at one's elbow,"

The 2nd LT "to my mind...was the man who

won the war", playing poker with the Colonel

and then to O.P, etc, etc– This fact alone ,

proves that this document is invaluable to the

archive. Your Father's cold sobriety as he looks
