from the aid post I was conveyed
by stages down to the 29 C.C.S.
and after 6 days there the train
took me down to Rouen
At the C.C.S the put a Thomases
splint upon my lift leg which
had sustained a compound
fracture at the shin and
and gunshot wounds at
the knee. In all Id
got 4 wounds in that
leg. My right leg they
amputated just below
the knee. After I had been
at Rouen about a fortnight
it was found my right
leg was going wrong fast septic
having set in at the knee
so they took another piece
off which has left me with
a stump of about 6 inches
I had been hoping all the
