Dear Katie,
Just a card to thank you for your cake, as it was
most thoughtful of you to send it to me, I need not tell
you it was very welcome, especially as it came from poor
Ireland, and was sampled by a few of my friends here. It
was very nice, & when we had finished it, the other lads
naturally ate up the crumbs, as it was an Irish Cake.
