New Year."

  I hope the old man is keeping 

in good health, as I expect you

are in the pink. Dear Katie I

can tell you I felt a bit odd here

at Xmas, it being my first absence

from home at the Festive Season, but

all the while, I believe I had a

very pleasant time under the existing

circumstances, as all the ship's

company enjoyed themselves dancing

singing, and a very nice variety

concert in the evening.

  On Xmas morning, we were all

presented with a very nice pipe, tobacco

and cigarettes, Xmas card & photo by

Princess Mary, and a Xmas Card

from the King & Queen, in a very nice

Brass Box. The whole handed to us by

the Captain. I have sent them on to Mary,

so she will show them to you when

you call over. What do you think

of the new baby?

  I am going on nicely up to the

present, it is a bit of a change to be

aboard a battleship towards the barracks

but of course, more to look forward 

to. As you will see we have had
