my letters because it takes such

a time My Dear the cakes are

very nice I got it on Sunday

after comeing back from the

trenches I am keeping very well

up till the present + am very

sorry that you have been not so

well I hope the time you get

this that you will be all right

again you must get fat + well

by the time that I come home

I only wish it was now + I

know that you do dear but things

are looking better than they did

+ I hope that it will keep so

enough I have plenty of work

to do now that I am Captain

Servant I hope I shall keep with

him he is particlar [SIC] but I shall

get used to his ways as I go

on. Well my Dear I am sorry

to hear that they did not do

anything to Alice I hope she

will soon get all right again

+ tell my boys that dady will

come home if God spares him

which I hope he do bless them how

the bottom left is curled back and hiding some writing longing to see them + you
