  My Dear Nan just a few lines in 

  answer to your letter which I got on 

  thursday + am glad to say that I 

  got the parcle quite safe on Friday

  night it is Friday today but my

  letter won't go before tomorrow

  Sat + it is my Earnie Birthday

  too 4 years I bet he is getting a big 

  boy now I wish I was home to buy

  him something I don't know when 

  we shall be able to come home yet 

  it is all the talk about when we shall

  get leaf I wish I was comeing for
