My Dear Nan I got your letter Monday
night + was glad to hear from you I
am glad to say that I have come out
of the Trenches safe again but there
are many a poor chap that has not it
is the worst lot of Trenches that we have
been in plenty of water & mud we have
had to wear long boots to keep us as dry
as possible + the Germans have been
laying mines they blowed one up + we
lost 26 men of out of one company A. Coy
+ they cant find a lot of them we are
going to give them something to go on
with just now as we have got a lot
of mines nearly ready the sooner the
better to get them out of the way Well
