April 24 Trench digging & 

putting barbed wire up.

Thursday April 25 Big

battle going on at Kemmel

nearly got us with shrapnel

narrow escapes. couldn't 

do any work, had to retire

went out in the afternoon

until 9 pm working on 

trenches at Ouderdom

Friday April 26 Trench

digging at Ouderdom

Saturday April 27 Trench

digging at Ouderdom, while

working at Ouderdom each 

man carried one days ration

& opening my iron ration

on one of these days, my 

hand slipped & the lid of

my ration cut my finger

to the bone, our medical
