Tuesday's letter

Crown Terrace

Scarborough

Wednesday.

September 6th 1916

My Dear Stanley,

I ought to put at the top of this

letter Sep: 5th + Tuesday. I always write in the evening

but unfortunately I was off colour. I think we

have all got cold with being in the breakfast room

poor baby has had an awful time and Kitty +

he have not been out. I simply ached from

head to foot so went to bed at nine o'clock with

a hot water bottle for my companion. Then I

was as sick as could be. It was about

midnight before I fell asleep. May breakfast

has had to be of toast and water. Mr Green

was pretending to tell me off for not attacking

the sausages. Yesterday (Tuesday) morning was

bitterly cold; we had a fire and it looked

grand and cheerful. Janet, Julia, Kitty, Baby

and myself sat around the fire reading and

talking. The weather improved so at 12:30 pm

Jan, Ju, + myself walked into the valley to see
