the pond. There were the two swans as usual.

but this time they were accompanied by two

good sized cygnets. One poor cygnet had damaged

a leg and never put it in the water but tucked

it under one wing. It swam gaily enough with

only one leg however. There were plenty of budgerigars

in the aviary - in fact they were swarming and

making enough noise for thousands of birds

the canaries looked cold and were tucking

themselves away in the moss. On a smaller pond

a wales hen and mate and family were

gaily swimming about. The cock with his

red wattle over his beak and his greenish yellow

legs was quite a dandy and endeavored

to keep the youngsters in a fitting state of humility

by giving them periodical vicious digs. Julia

was jumping about all over and posing

pretending the gardens were grounds near

her house. After dinner your mother and I

went shopping into Westboro: I scrubbed my

heel on the back of the rocking chair - made

a hole in my stocking and skinned my heel.
