No. 1 Cavalry Cadet School
Netheravon
15th June 1917
My dear Lassie,
I am commencing this in a short
respite at Friday lunch time. Well-
great events since last I wrote you. First,
we had our bayonet fighting inspection
yesterday afternoon, + I understand the class
was passed as a whole. I was one of the
lucky ones who was not called out to do any
detailing + drilling. Then today we have
had our eventful first riding test, + owing
to the backwardness of 3 or 4 men in our ride,
the whole ride will be inspected by the
Commandant (Lord Petersham not the Commandant
was there today) again on the 29th
Instant, as to whether we are going into
"A" squadron or to be kept back but some 6
