names were taken today as being good enough
to pass up, + mine was one! So I think
I'm alright, + I'm real glad, lassie, because
the riding tests are very severe here + paramount
importance is paid to them. It's fairly certain,
I think, that we shall get our leave on the 21st
after all, but of course, Army-like, no definite
word has been given. I'm thinking of changing
my horse, if possible, before the 29th as he gave
me a roughish passage this morning. He
will not be got into the "lane" without trouble
- rear up, swerves + jumps etc. This morning
I had finally to dismount + get help to lead
him in! Once in, we post 2 men at the
gate so that he can't dash out, I mount,
turn him round, + let him have the spurs
all the way down over the jumps. If I didn't
he'd refuse again! Of course, we are without
stirrups.
We also had an exciting bombing "stunt"
