My Dear Nan I got your welcome
letter quite safe + am sorry to hear
that Earnie as not been so well
I hope by the time that you get this
letter he will be all right again
poor little chap he must buck up
now the nice weather is coming
we are haveing it a bit fine now
the fruit trees are all in blossom
but that dont stop the roar of the
guns over heads I am beginging [SIC]
to get used to the noise now I
wish a thousand times that the
War was over the same as you do

I think it is possible this letter was written on April 16, 1916. Robert writes “Palsm” (I think meaning Psalm). Palm Sunday fell on April 16th in 1916.
