My dear Muriel,

Well, we've had a most exciting weekend!

Whatever the cause I don't know, but a new campsite

battalion were picked yesterday (Sunday) of Black Watch

+ A. + S.H., + were inspected during the afternoon by

Gen. Sunpron - in full marching order, of course! Practically

the whole battalion are in it, + we have to be ready

to move at 4 hrs notice. All men have been recalled

off leave, + even courses, + also all officers. Ripon

is out of bounds - they won't allow us past the

corner of the circular road. I understand this has

been going on during the weekend all over the country.

What is the cause, nobody knows for certain. The following

are some of the rumours 1 that the German fleet is out

2 further trouble in Ireland 3 German offensive is in

full swing in France etc etc. The worst part about it

is that any question of leave this week is over I'm afraid

My poor lassie - it's you I'm most sorry for - having
