to be separated from me at the very time when we most
need to be together! Still, I keep bolstering up with the
fact that I'm lucky to be in England with you at this
time. Many thanks for the letters + also for the parcel etc
which arrived this afternoon. It's just like Ethel to name
the puppy as she has done, but it's a very good name
+ quite in the leading doggy style! I hope my orders
come this week - yes they will solve everything,
lassie!
Poor Norrie! It's rotten for him - altho' I'm not surprised
Tell Julia I'm surprised at her - it's so common just
now! I hope Frank does not get redder. However he
may be steadied a bit by so many accidents occurring.
I don't find the blank cheque which you say you
enclose, so I take it you forgot it. It's been another
bitterly cold day, + I hope it's a bit warmer tomorrow
as we have to go to the ranges. Everyone who has not
already done so, has to fire with the "Ross" rifle which
has just been issued to us. Ripon must be awfully
quiet as its out of bounds for all troops. We missed
our Saturday coal issue for the hut, + as there is
no issue until tomorrow we've had no fire since
Friday night. Well, good night my lassie, + keep up
heart. Give my love to them all - + with this comes
an extra big c-o-a-o. If there is anything you
want settling, let me know - bless your heart!
Your loving,
Husband
