off. In the evening I stayed with Kitty. She was

saying that it took nearly an hour for Richard's

head alone to be born. She said she kept

pushing but every time she breathed back he

went again. Women are generally laid on

their side during 'the event'. But Norrie was

born when your mother was on her back.

You were born on a Monday night and at seven

o'clock the doctor left your mother as he said

you couldn't arrive before midnight but

however you pushing little object you came at

9.30 p.m and a midwife of rather doubtful

character had to be brought in, who lived

near. Then Kitty said she thought one day

she was going blind. That was about three

days after baby was born. It was however

only the milk coming into her breasts. She said

the pain was dreadful and one breast nipple

the right one cracked and she could not bear

baby to be near it. Oh! These married women and

their Troubles. I enclose Joy's letter. I did

wish I could have seen her, Of course I shall

get to know all I want to know from her.

It appears Mrs Bellerby (Maud Welsby that was)
