tonight. She told me that when she wrote Dick
to leave money for the maid she told him he
need not bother to come to the station. I roared
at her; she sat opposite me and told it with
such an air of independence. Well as she
said he had never written to her, + never
even thanked Mrs Green for her kindness
to him during his holiday because Mr & Mrs
Green have paid. Kitty did thank her +
as your father said she is one of their own.
But Kitty surprised me last night by saying
there were some things she would never
tell any man. I said did she mean she
would not tell Dick. She thought she would
much rather tell her mother all her thoughts
than make a confidant of Dick and as
for his being her companion - well that was
out of the question. Dick told her one night
that he did not believe in telling a woman
everything because no woman could be troubled.
Well he may want his wife some day and
be thankful he has a woman. I told her
that I had rather tell you everything than
