My Dear Mrs Price

I received your letter this evening

and you really have no need to apologize for

troubling me - because it is no trouble at all.

The least I can do is to endeavour to the best of

my power to lighten if possible the heavy burden

of sorrow which the sad news of your dear

husband's death must have thrown upon your

shoulders.

There was rather a heavy bombardment taking

place on the morning of the 30th of March, when

your husband + some others were caught by a busting

shell - Your husband was not killed outright,

but lingered on till he reached the Advanced

Dressing Station which was close to the line.

He received every possible attention from the

doctors - but in spite of all their efforts his

wounds were too serious + very shortly afterwards

he passed peacefully away.

That same day he was buried at Bard Cottage

Cemetery not far from Ypres near the spot he

fell. I conducted the service and there he

lies in his last resting place with those who died

with him.
