There is a square white note on top of the letter that reads:
Letter of condolence from Chaplain (with details of death)
The note covers nearly half of the letter
place on the morning of the 30th of March, when
Your husband + some others were caught by a bursting
shell - Your husband was not killed outright,
but lingered on till he reached the Advanced
Dressing Station which was close to the line.
He received every possible attention from the
doctor - but in spite of all their efforts his
wounds were too serious + very shortly afterwards
he passed peacefully away.
That same day he was buried at Bard Cottage
Cemetery not far from Ypres near the spot he
fell. I conducted the service and there he
lies in his last resting place with those who died
with him.

I have located Robert’s Grave Registration Report
http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/440735/PRICE,%20ROBERT%20WILLIAM
It states that Robert was age 42 when he passed. That he was the “Son of Jacob Price; husband of Annie Price, of Chapel Lane, Longton, Preston.”
It also shows that his headstone is located at Plot 2, Row F, Grave 4. It’s marked with a Cross (Stone # 517).
If the Chaplain’s letter is accurate, then the main description of this story inaccurately states that Robert fell in France. This account from the Chaplain clearly states Robert being buried in Bard Cottage Cemetery “not far from Ypres”. Ypres is in Belgium, and Bard Cottage Cemetery is in West-Vlaanderen, Belgium (north of Ypres).
This is a paper note placed on the first page covering a significant amount of the text.
