  I did not see what the French sailors did with
  

  the gun. I do not know whether they took it with
  

  them. They came at 7.30 in the evening. The
  

  French had an interpreter who spoke Arabic. I am
  

  the only person on board who knows Arabic. I
  

  understand a little. When the interpreter told
  

  us to go out. I understand it. He said "all the
  

  crew to go out. We are going to sink the ship".
  

  He asked us if we had any petroleum. They found
  

  the bottle half full. They did not call attention
  

  to any mark on the decks, not to the sand. They
  

   did not say that they found a smell of petroleum or
  

  at any rate we did not understand it. We lit our
  

  lamps for them to examine. We had only one lamp
  

  lit on the ship it was in the bows - we  were sitting
  

  in the bows after having eaten our meals. We had
  

  no talk of buying any other gun or cartridges and
  

  we did not do so. We had no talk about buying a
  

  small boat. We only had one boat on board. It
  

  was the one we took from Kyrenia.
