I smelte  smelled powder and had

to wait 1 hour till I could

go way from Regiment. All

windows are broken down

there. Then an anti-aircraft

caison went through

St. Martin. Looked quite dangerous.

All men with shell

helmet and the auto going

at a terrible high rate.

By going to the Regiment

I noticed that my friends

the flies are back already.

For dinner I cooked something

myself and besides

this I ate dinner from

last night. I was full.

We lost until now 81 dead officers

716 wounded including 25 twice

17 3 times, and 2 4 times. Missing

prisoner 3. Total loss 1610 dead, 6551

wounded, 993 missing 3/4 dead. Total

9154. 15,000 new men. II. Kl. 272357 I

To-day was very busy day. In the

morning I am awaken had to

come down. Gasoline was not

running. I saw how nice they

are painted now, like a rainbow.

red, brown, green, grey, red,

green. We inspected everything on it.

Saw the camera. Just had time to

dinner when we went down to Hilaire

again. To look for things left by civils

coffee, rice. But did not get any. Saw

the bells brought down from church.

Talk with all french prisonier civil. After

that to Bethersville. But had to make

haste as a cannonade of that place

was expected at 4 o'clock. Reason: we are

bombarding Reims. Record walk back

to our barracks, took me 1/2 hour.

Eat something then to Regiment again.

At Lt. Martin we admired 2 aeroplanes

thinking that they were german and

suddenly an observation balloon at

Paut Faverger came down burning.
