But on our way home it nearly
froze my feet. It was a pretty
sight this afternoon seeing the
balloons going up one by one
as soon as the sky cleared up.
The Englishmen took turns . To-day
I was so hungry again. Now I am
going to bed otherwise I eat all
my bread and have nothing
to eat to-morrow.
4.4.17 Fruh Bedrekt. Nachwittags Schon
That was a bad start for a morning.
I was making fire. Cut wood
with my knife. When I had finished,
I wanted to cut a piece of
bread and eat not find my
knife. I thought and thought
and at least I find out
that I put it in the fire. That's
a shame. The knife went to
war with me and I miss
it already. The bad day continued.
I spilled my coffee
on the floor. It was coffee

I just came in time
to not get any. Perhaps I
was in bad humour because
I had such a nasty dream,
or was it because the rats
disturbed me all night and
woke me up 1/2 doz. of times.
The they done one thing which I
never thought possible. Went
on the shelf and started to
eat the bread. If the bread
would not have fallen down,
I would never have noticed it.
So I could chase her away.
I am certainly hungry as
ever. To-day I received the
answer from Pvt. Pallermann
but it was not that I expected.
Our chief came back.
There was big shouting an our right.
and suddenly also in our sector.

Today was altogether different.
