  Dear mother,

    Your welcome letter to

  hand, hoping you are in the

  best of health as I am at present

  I don't think there is much

  fear of any zeppelins dropping bombs

  on us, we have a strong guard 

  out every day against aircraft

  and I am one of them. I Received

  the paper you sent me alright

  also the cigarrettes, I sent a letter

  shortly afterward to say I had 

  them to hand but I do not know 

  whether you received it or not
