In the Field | 1.7.17 | The Company still had a Detachment at CLAPHAM JUNCTION under II Lt. R. GIBB, with
another at PROVEN under Capt WOOD. The remainder of the unit was at BRANDHOEK
Near PROVEN. a triangle was being laid, whilst connections were being laid at
ROUSEBRUGGE and BANDAGHEM. The station at ROUSEBRUGGE was also enlarged
Work on the S.L. Water Supply and BRANDHOEK Hospital Sidings was continued
2.7.17 | Capt. Wood was admitted to hospital and did not return to the unit.
II LT. ASKHAM joined the 297 Coy R.F.
5.7.17 | LT BEVAN reported to headquarters at BRANDHOEK for duty
10.7.17 | Three additional sidings at FLAMERTINGHE were begun.
11.7.17 | MACHINE GUN FARM Railroad was begun.
12.7.17 | REIGERSBURG R.E. PARK was begun.
10.7.17 | ii LT GIBB and 19 O.R.s moved from CLAPHAM JUNCTION to BRANDHOEK
12.7.17 | A second chord was begun E of PROVEN
7.7.17 | Lifting and packing and the construction of a camp for the French near CROMBEKE was begun
24.7.17 | The detachment returned from PROVEN to BRANDHOEK having completed the above work
for the French, and the Proven Triangle, with the other works at ROUSEBRUGGE and
BANDAGHEM, where a Hospital Platform was constructed.
15.7.17 | FLAMERTINGHE STATION, MACHINE GUN FARM, and REIGERSBURG R.E. Park were ready
for traffic on the required date.
During the month 5 casualties occurred to men of the Company and 17 to those of attached Labour
Corp. H. Bettridge received an M.M. for his work on REIGERSBURG R.E. PARK
