Nov. 22nd
Sir
It is with the
deepest regret that
I have to write & tell
you of the death of
your son in an
attack on the 18th.
He did not I hope
suffer much pain.
He was most splendid
during the action & I
can only conclude
by offerring you &
your family my
deepest sympathy in
your great loss
Yours truly
Geoffrey St. John
