one hour after we left.

28th Much cooler. Special inspection by Gen. Alderton congratulates

on good behaviour of Canadian in the trenches.

30th In Stithorn, gone home Nervous breakdown.

31st recieved news of Eddies Death in Derderelles.

June 1st moved to La Prerelle? Aeroplane brought down by gun 300 for

2nd German aeroplane brought down 10Am by Antiaircraft Gun

Shells bursting all round "Standing to" ready for trenches.

Extra annunition served out. Found shrapnell in trench hood quarters smash

3rd Duel of Aeroplanes 4Am one fell, moved into trenches at

Givenchy, Road heavily shelled all way up. Many narrow scopes.

4th Returned at 9Am. Shelled all day. no damage.

5th Trying machine Gun in morning. Moved to Beuvry. Shell

dropping all round billet. Carraboo Bill, 2 women + 2 child

killed. Homes on fire. A Butcher seen burning a Pig said to

be a signel. For shells came straight for fire he gunned +

went away. Feret Peasant would sell their soul for a fe

missing. Armour Train in station at Beuvry. 2 guns called

" Little Willies" doing good work. Guns layed by expert in

connection with Wireles +Areoplane  missing

6th marched back to Givenchy. Burried Carrivoo Bill. two men

one woman in charge as spies. Entertainment likely place for s

also farm mostly Flemish.
