Dear Mother
I have the pleasure of writing these few lines in answer to
your welcome letter + hoping you are all keeping in the best of health
as it leaves me at present. I received your parsel quite safe when we
came out of the trenches. We still keep having splendid weather out
hear We have been in the trenches for 7 days this last time i dont
no how long we are out for we have had about 12 killed and
wounded in our Battalion this last time taking it on the whole we
have had it pretty quite, but the Germans are getting more than
what they ... want just at present with the French they are
driving them back and taking lots of prisoners not far from where
we are. I have not heard from Ernest yet but it is soon
enough to get an answer back yet I got a letter from Goole
and they have not heard from him since they got the post
card saying he was going on nicely i think he does not write
strait away or else you would get the letters oftener. I think
you will hear no more from Isabell as it appears she does not
mean writing well Harry as got on very well so far without
her, so i think he will do so now. If my Uncle ...
wants you to go and live with him i should do if i were you
when we were this last time there was a German handed in he
said they were all fed up of the War i tell you i wish it
was finished and we was all safely back again as i would
