  A cavalry attack visible at 2000 yards is a rare occurence

  and is easily beaten off. the dangerous form of attack is

  when the cavalry can get within 500 yards unseen, and

  can form up under cover to charge

  The only possible order is then "fuze zero, gun fire

  or fuze.

   
  

  In the case of a Column moving across the line of fire

  if may be necessary to give deflection; if so the following

  is a useful guide;

   
  

  If the target is moving at a walk give 20'

       "                "                 "     trot     "    40'

       "                "                 "    gallop  "    1°
