over the sea + river mouth.

Lochie + I slept outside in the

sand last night, in preference to

18 in a tent. It was a beautiful

night, + both slept very well, but

a heavy morning dew soaked the

outer clothing. We have been at

the bull ring again. Our training

is very thorough + varied (putting

up wire entanglements, sand-bag

revetting, bomb tunoning etc etc)

If only I could have a walk

with you to Cayton + back with

you, my lassie, I'd give anything!

Well, everyone seems to think

it will not last much longer!

The no. of troops stationed here

+ arriving daily is stupendous.

Every night in the canteens +

Y.M.C.A's etc there are qeues

just like theatres - pit entrance

- to get to the counters! Well,
