My Dear Stanley,

I received your Sunday letter

September 3rd this morning. But laddie it made

me ache to think that you should be washing

a floor. I'm afraid I should have said

'unprintable things' if I had seen you there

would have been no laughing at all.

Well we all think its a great SHAME after

you have been so ill. Poor laddie - but wait

till you get to England. We'll see if we cannot

make up a bit.

Another letter arrived from Norrie. He said

in it that he thought Norah was very foolish

to go again with George Lee; and that her choice

would have been in better taste if she had

selected Harold. He said the officers gave

him a splendid word out there for doing a lot

of work without making any song about it.

of course this started your mother off again
