Mrs Hodgson says it's ugly; it takes after

Pulleyn's. That reminds me, when Kitty

says baby is tiresome and far too energetic

Dick tells her she must take after her

because he (Dick) was a very quiet baby.

Your mother says Mrs Foxton must tell

lies and she doesn't believe Dick was

ever quiet. My word! your mother has got

her knife into the Foxton family and also

into Dick. She says he is not a gentleman

and she is going to tell him off for not

writing to Kitty. She says it is only right

women should have these attentions. Well

I should be surprised if my husband did

not want to write to me. You know I think

Kitty can't help comparing her husband

and elder brother when I get letters, because

she says "Yes Stanley poor lad always

writes and he is ill in bed." But Bless

you - if every woman had as good a

husband as I have there would be no
