  for it is dull & rainy, well Dear Mother I am sending Kit on a card for her Birthday if I am not too late & tell her that I was sorry I could not send it on before, & I will send her something else on later on, & I must tell you that I am sending you on a few Violet's which I picked in the trenches yesterday they smelt lovely when I picked them but I expect the smell will be gone by the time you get them, I hope that George is still keeping well, remember me to him wont you, the people here are keeping well & wishes to be remembered to all at home, I see that you have had those two girls
