Never, perhaps, was the Victoria Cross more nobly
won and more deservedly bestowed.
It is such deeds as these, by men of friendly
nations who have sacrificed everything in order to give
practical proof of their sympathies with the cause of the
Entente, that fill the hearts of both their countrymen and
their adopted countrymen with pride. Such chivalrous
bravery in the face of an unscrupulous enemy provides not only
a bond between Danes and Englishmen, but a lesson that
every neutral man and woman may well take to heart.
