Letters written by Charles Patrick Flanagan, Royal Flying Corps
Title in English
Charles Patrick Flanagan, Royal Flying Corps
My name is Catherine Smyth - niece of Charles Patrick Flanagan who served in the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. He was born on 12/5/1895 and died on 2/6/1926. I possess his medal, photographs of him in uniform and letters which he wrote from France in 1915 to his sister, Agnes. I also have letters sent from his base in Oxford. This letter refers to the Sinn Féin "situation" in Dublin. Charles later served in the Irish Air Force when the Irish Free State was formed. (He was sometimes known as O'Flanagan).
