A Dream

I've tramped many miles I'm tired, Sir

For weeks I've had nothing to eat.

Except twenty loaves, forty Pork pies, Sir.

And ninty-six pounds of tinned meat.

But I was not always like this, Sir.

I was once perhaps hungry as you,

had houses & carriages & land in my mind.

And a gold-mine & silver-mine too.

But that was before I met Phyllis

Twas a woman who ruined my life.

We were married by special Dog Licence.

I was proud when she made me her wife.

We lived for ninty-nine long years together, Sir.

As happy as pigs in a tree
