Till a man with a face like a ship in distress
Came and stole my poor Phyllis from me.
He took her for walks round the gas-works
And stood her to bad ginger-beer
Then one night when I was in prison
He whispered his tale in her ear
Then she packed the home in a hat bod
And left me a letter which read:
"I have gone with man who detests me
If you follow I'll have you instead."
In my rage I knelt on the ceiling
And swore as I only could swear
