Number 27978 Private A Goodwin
showed conspicuous bravery and
devotion to duty on the night
21/22 November 1917.
Whilst the Company were digging
a Communication Trench across the
old "No Mans Land," under heavy
shell and machine gun fire,
regardless of personal danger he
continued to attend to the
wounded, and carry them to a
safe position.
Two men were seriously wounded
and could not be moved, so
Goodwin remained with them
until they died.
On several other occasions this
stretcher bearer has been very
conspicuous.
