Knowing the need for a cabin
to shelter and put our tackle in
it was fortunate for us that Mr.
Walsh got in touch with one at
Rishton for sale 15 feet long, and
9 ft wide, Messrs Walsh + Monk
went to Rishton and bought the
same for 6 Above:£(pounds) -0 Above: s(shillings) -0 Above: d(pence) no doubt it was a
bargain, and was brought to the
plot on one of the Brickworks lurries lorries
Mr. Rushton kindly seeing to the
taking down and rebuilding it.
On April 8th 1917 we started
setting the potatoes, we had rolls
of string 100 yds long laid on the
land to guide us in the way of

“Lurries” might be a misspelling of “lorries”, though I’m not sure.
