also two or three meetings on
Sunday evenings, resulted in
close on 100 volunteers. Now then
this was encouraging, success
was assured. During this
period the seed potatoes had
arrived, and we cut them up
and stored them in Mr. Poole's
room (who was kindly lent us the
same) when we were ready to
set some of the seeds, a snow
storm came over the district,
and the ground was covered
about a fortnight. (Thus the
land committes [sic] troubles had
now begun!)
