                                                     June 23/1916

My dear Son

Yours to hand of the 22nd today I am

very pleased to hear you arrived safely on Monday

+ Also assume seeing you have started working

that your arm is getting better. I quite agree

with you that it ill be much pleasanter you

having something to do than lounging about

I saw Mr Pinkney to day at Noon + enquired

how you got on together + he stated that

only complaint you made was at not havng

something to do.

I note you remarks re a Burns + think this

is the reason that we have not heard from him

either by letter or even received a newspaper

which I assume are all stopped at port of

entry. I have had a very busy day to day I

have been at Morey W Inger + Bulley both

wanting F P tons I Booked Bulleys order +

expect the other. There is also an enquiry

from Keyhly for a Fire Escape about a

L 40/0/0 job. I have had many on Rotas

Steel structure & think this is the worse job

he has struck since he came, however I

suppose he will mend. I have had that old

labourer missingdown this week seeking a

job he left the workhouse on Monday

The institution he calls it he said he had been

working whilst an inmate up at Darsy Hill
