Letter to Muriel from North Camp, Ripon, 8 April 1917

  Hut 2 "A" Coy

  North Camp

  Saturday Evening

  My dear Lassie,

  Well, once again! How

  are you faring? As well as can be I

  hope, bless you! I am writing this

  Sat with Robb in the Catholic Hut

  which is on the Pateley Bridge Rd.

  opposite the turning to Studley Royal.

  It's the first time I've been here, but

  it's a nice hut + you can get trifle

  jelly, etc! We went down to Ripon

  after dinner, had a cup of tea + a

  bun at the Soldier's Institute, + from

  there we've had a walk out to Fountains

  Abbey + back. It did make me think

  of our mornings there together in the

  past, lass o'mine, + didn't I wish
