Pass in the Night" I do hope Stan: its
not a case of that with us. I wasn't
really surprised when you told me you
were being packed off to hospital. I was
vainly trying to make light of your ailment
for our sakes. I think you were too.
I hope your letters are reaching you. I've
done all I can to get 'em sent on to you
You know full well how much satisfaction
is to be got out of anybody here.
Being isolated I can't do much beyond
worrying others into action. We are encamped
on the edge of the square and
are expecting to be dispatched to an isolation
camp. As I fully expected the C.O
says he can do nothing with my papers
nor can Ripon. He tells me to take them
up the line with me. Fat lot of good
that will do me. Why they are not
even bullet proof. Oh thanks Stan: for
leaving cake in my custody; we all
enjoyed eating it. I hope Scarborough
