Section Control
When a new target is to be engaged, but
it is desired to keep up the fuze on the old one, one section
of the battery may be detailed for the latter purpose.
Or if two targets appear simultaneously, a section may be
detailed to engage one of them. The order is "(Right)
Section, Section Control," and the section commander becomes
for the moment independent, and directs the fire of his
section himself
Moving Targets
Small rapid-moving targets such as patrols
are rarely worth powder and shot. The usual moving target
is infantry advancing in scattered formation, artillery and
cavalry may sometimes be caught on the move
The corrector must first have been found, otherwise there is
little chance of producing effect.
An infantry advancing in scattered formation, or intermittently
visible during during their advance a long bracket of 300 or
600 yards is found and searched from end to end
