Today I know why I did not
write. I received her last letter.
She says that she is growing older
every day and has to look for
something earnestly. Well far <SIC>

alone and have to look for
something else. Helas! I past
the day with reading that dreadfull <SIC>
book of H.H. Ewers. I cannot understand
him. Now I want to
burn and destroy all my letters

two films I left behind to the address

I got a pleasant surprise today
the Adjutant thinks that it
is Handley-Page I am to be sent
on. Well I didn’t think I was
a half and half pilot. However
two other good pilots are going with
me + the reason I think is an
emergency call for pilots to man
our largest bombing-machines
for some stunt. I refused the
fairly safe job of an instructor, but
if I like H.P’s, which are
considered one of the safest stunts

puissent nous ramener a Bruxelles
pour y retourner... Ce n'est pas encore
tout de suite malheureusement.

Avec la semaine finit encore un mois !
Et le temps passe, les mois s'écoulent, sans m'apporter
avenue nouvelle de toi, mon bien-aimé; j'ai encore été
bien triste cette semaine, le cousin Grenier est venu
lundi, et m'a dit avoir reçu lettres et photographies de
ses amis qui sont à Verdun, penses, si j'ai en le cœur
serré, je ne sais quelles suppositions faire...

Familie meine herzlichste Teilnahme aus.
Ich werde der Seelenruhe des teuren Dahingeschiedenen

Am Weihnachtsfest und beim Jahreswechsel
gedenkt der Ihrer in herzlicher
Teilnahme und sendet Ihnen gute Wünsche
und beste Grüße. Aus Ihrer letzten
Karte ersehe ich, daß Sie sich noch wohl befinden,
und ich hoffe, daß Sie auch weiter
alles gut überstehen.

nach Borsa ins Land der Ruthenen. Hier wurden wir in eine
Baracke der Genesungskompanie, Gr. R. 1, einquartiert und lagen
dort bis zum anderen Tage. Dann fuhren wir mit der Prislop-
bahn bis zu dem Berge, nach dem die Bahn ihren Namen
trägt. Bei wunderbarem Frühlingswetter fuhren wir von Borsa
ab und bei Schneegestöber landeten wir auf dem Prislop.
Ich erinnere mich des ersten Kriegssonntags. Auf
dem Blechhause, einem beliebten Familienlokale, waren
viele Menschen um Kaffee und Kuchen, und Bier versammelt.
Nun länger denn je, denn was sollten sie
auch zu Haus? draussen gabs Erleben. Extrablätter wurden
verlesen, gute Nachrichten mit lauten Hurra und
„Deutschland, Deutschland über alles“ aufgenommen. Währenddessen
rollten alle 10 Minuten ein Transportzug nach dem
Andern über den Neisse-Viadukt, die Leute eilten an die
Schön. 12.6.17
Der Betreib hat sich schon eingerenkt.

Caro Benedetto,
finalmente ho avuto il piacere di
conoscere la tua calligrafia, avendo
ricevuto una tua cartolina: quella
del 30 luglio. Credo di poter presto
ritornare a casa, poiché si stà lavorando
seriamente attorno al problema della Pace. Appena sarò
a casa, parleremo... della macchina
per fare i piatti, e, se non ti comprerò
questa, stà sicuro che ti farò contento
lo stesso, in altra maniera.

Kochana Anno i Tadziu!
Wczoraj odebrałem paczki wysłane 7.12.
gwiazdkowe, które mnie bardzo
ucieszyły. Były trzy paczki, 2 z
pączkami i Kopfschützer i 1 z kiszką
i okrasą. Paczki były całe i nie
było widać, aby je jusz
chciał odworzyć
jestem dzięki Bogu jeszcze
dosyć zdrów. Dzisiaj mieliśmy
nabożeństwo polowe, a w piątek
byliśmy u spowiedzi i komuni św.
Polowych nabożeństwo mieliśmy
do tego czasu 3. Od tygodnia lecimy
znów w acz i V....e i nieniemy
jak długo jeszcze w tej wsi przeciwstawimy,
może być że święta
także we wsi przepędzimy.
