The Flu

It was the 14th day of September this year
I started feeling awfully queer
Now 'Bert' I said it would be wiser
To seek the aid of your Medical adviser
                        ----------------------------
So I saw the Medical Officer at 6.0 PM
He took my temp and said Ahem
My man he said you're 102⁰
I think you have a touch of the Flu
                        ----------------------------
I was detained a while to wait for a car
St Andrew's quick its not far
I laught and thought of what he said
Now 'Bert' you're getting every night in bed
                        ----------------------------
I landed at last at my destination
And Oh! what to my mind was a big revelation
Everyone seemed to be getting the Flu
It was travelling the whole of Malta through
                        ----------------------------
There was English and Malta's lying in bed
Some looked ill and some seemed dead
The Malta's where lying coughing and spitting
And shouting "I ma" till you had a fat head
                        ----------------------------
Now the staff of the Hospital is just top-hole
The matron, she is a good soul
And the Doctors and sisters and the VADs
The orderlies too are sure to please

Now dear reader if you get the Flu
Try for St Andrew's whatever you do
The Staff I'm sure will see you through
Do what I say and you will not sue
